Image Splitter

Cut one picture into a grid of equal pieces and download them as a ZIP.

Files never leave your device. Everything is processed in your browser.

Splitting does the opposite of merging: one wide panorama becomes a swipeable three-part carousel, one big picture becomes nine tiles for a profile grid, one long scan becomes separate pages.

Choose how many rows and columns you want. Every piece is saved as its own image and bundled into a single ZIP file.

One 3725 × 2508 px photo was cut into 3 columns, about 1242 × 2508 px each.

The pieces download together as one ZIP file.

The numbers are from a real run of the tool above. The pictures here are smaller previews of the actual files.

How to use it

  1. Add the image you want to divide.
  2. Set the number of rows and columns. The preview lines show where the cuts fall.
  3. Press Split.
  4. Download the ZIP, or save individual pieces by tapping them.

Naming and order

Pieces are named by position, for example photo-row1-col1 for the top-left tile, and listed left to right, top to bottom. When posting tiles to a profile grid, upload them in reverse, starting with the bottom-right piece, because the newest post always takes the top-left spot.

Getting even tiles

Cuts are placed so that every pixel of the original ends up in exactly one piece. When the width or height does not divide evenly, neighbouring tiles may differ by a single pixel. For a seamless carousel, crop the source first to a ratio that suits the split: a three-panel carousel of 4:5 slides, for instance, needs a 12:5 original.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum grid size?
Up to 10 rows and 10 columns. Larger grids produce pieces too small to be useful for most purposes.
Do the pieces lose quality?
Each piece keeps the resolution of its part of the original. PNG inputs are split without any loss; JPG pieces are saved at high quality.
How do I open the ZIP on a phone?
On iPhone, tap the ZIP in the Files app to unpack it. On Android, open it with the Files app and choose Extract. You can also save pieces one at a time from the result list.
